As I mentioned before, the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn didn't mention the "South

Sudanese mediation Ethiopia and Eritrea" and instead of that he talked about direct negotiation between the two countries, but Al-jazeera attributed this positive development to South Sudan’s initiative and quoted Deng Alor’s statement that both Addis Ababa and Asmara had given the green light to come for peace talks and that the negotiation talks could start as of November.
No official statement from Eritrea towards the South Sudanese Mediation, the official position demanding full implementation for "Algeria's Agreement" and the arbitration committee established by the agreement. The Ethiopian government repeated its position many times by emphasizing that the government’s priority is maintaining the regional integration with the whole region not just Eritrea; Addis Ababa accepted to negotiate the disputes with Asmara.
In reality, the border war ended in 2000, but Ethiopia and Eritrea still have a tense relationship. In January 2012, Ethiopia accused Eritrea of sponsoring terrorist activities. Such "accusations" require investigation, and an African organization (CISSA--Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa) is doing just that. Many observers said that they are sure CISSA can do something on this issue. Some said this situation is very normal because this kind of accusation is always the "ready meal" on African political tables. Sudan and South Sudan were exchanging accusations even before South Sudan’s independence, but this factor will not paralyze the mediation Juba launched between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Addis Ababa is the historical seat for African unity and African dreams. One of the best achievements of the EPRDF government in Ethiopia was that they did not become involved in a situation of "glorious isolation" that usually happens to countries after civil war, as in the US. Ethiopia stuck to its African role in spite of its own problems. The example of Ethiopia gives us hopes that Juba is also able to do something.
